Why Creating Process Is So Important

If you’re anything like us, you know what it’s like to be working in your business 24/7 (or at least feel that way). We tell ourselves there’s no way we could be working less and making the same -  if not more - money.

But there is. And the key to that is process. Process keeps your work from being a chaotic mess, which is where most of us are as entrepreneurs.

Maybe it’s just a side effect of our genius, but if we don't put the right systems in place, we often end up sabotaging ourselves and our businesses. That’s because we can’t do it all: when everything is dependent on us, we become the bottleneck in the growth of our company.

Maybe you’ve already realized your limited capacity is holding your business back from being able to accept new clients. But you also simply don’t have the time to train someone new to do what you do.

Here’s a quick solution: document your process.

Teaching someone what's in your head is a lot harder than teaching someone what you've already written down. You can start simple with just a video or voice recording of you doing something and explaining it, and that can turn into your training video. When you record yourself doing something, even if you're not sure you're going to outsource it right away, at least someone can step in and help you if you ever needed it.

After years of taking these simple steps, we now have a video library that we can share with a new employee to quickly onboard them without much time commitment on our part. They can just swoop in and pick up right where we left off.

And if even recording yourself sounds like too much of a pain, hire someone to come shadow you for the day and document the process for you. We guarantee it will be worth the investment.

If you’re still in the thick of it when it comes to writing your operating procedures and standardizing things, don’t worry: Process takes a lot of time and patience. But our story is proof that it will all pay off in the end.

Now that all the protocols are documented instead of just living in our heads, we can actually delegate time-consuming tasks while we sit back and relax a little bit. The time freedom we have now was well worth the effort, and we believe it will be for you, too.

If you or someone you know is looking for one team to outsource their  bookkeeping, tax prep, and IRS communication to, we ask that you please send them our way.

Just send them the link down below to schedule their free discovery call with us today.

We look forward to meeting you! See you in the next blog post.

Warmly,

The Prominence Team
